20 Students of M.A. in Education Program graduated in The First UIII Commencement 2023
Thursday, 31st August 2023 was an unforgettable memory for the university and its graduates, UIII held its first commencement in 2023. This was a happy moment for graduates to celebrate graduation after completing their studies in the study program they were pursuing at UIII. In the event attended by the graduates, their families, and closest ones also by lecturers who have taught students for several years. This activity was carried out solemnly with the inauguration of the activity by the chairman of the academic senate, followed by reading the holy Quran, singing Indonesia Raya (Indonesian national anthem), the UIII hymn. On this occasion, Dr. (H.C.) M. Jusuf Kalla (The Vice President of Indonesia (2004-2009 and 2014-2019), and the Board of Trustees Chairman of the Indonesian International Islamic University) was present and gave a message to the graduates, then continued with the peak activity, the Conferral of the Degrees, led by the rector of UIII and the deans of each faculty. Students with proud smiles walked onto the stage to receive their diplomas. They are:

On this occasion, two graduates from FIP also participated as representatives for this commencement. Abdou Barrow, as one of 4 graduate representatives per faculty, was chosen to give a valedictory speech, and Supriyono (President of UIII Alumni Association) led the reading of the alumni oath.
This commencement is a celebration and validation of the graduates' degrees which will always be remembered by students as a result of the students' perseverance and dedication in completing several years of study at UIII. Congratulations to the graduates.

Faculty of Education First Judicium 2023
On Monday 28 August 2023, The Faculty of Education held a Judicium Ceremony for M.A. in education for the first time in 2023. This is a pre-graduation activity where the Yudisium ceremony is also an important moment for students. This activity was organized by the faculty for students who will graduate. Apart from the dean and lecturers of the Faculty of Education, the event was attended by Prof. Jamhari Makruf as a Vice-Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Community Engagement and M. Rifqi Muna Ph.D. as an Academic Senate Chairman of the International Islamic University of Indonesia.
On the day of the ceremony, this activity was opened with a speech from Prof. Jamhari Makruf (the Vice-Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Community Engagement), then continued by Prof. Nina Nurmila (the dean of the faculty of education) and Tati Lathipatud durriyah (the head of MA study program). At that moment the head of the MA Study program read the dean's decision letter regarding students who were declared to have passed along with the final GPA gained by the students, then continued with awards. There were 4 awards that the faculty gave, namely:
1. Supriyono - the Best student with an outstanding GPA of 4.00
2. Difa Mahya Zahara - the best MA thesis
3. Popi Rosepti - the Most Productive Writer
4. Charyna Ayu Rizkyanti, PhD - the best lecturer for academic year 2022/2023
After the entire main event was completed, the activity continued with a meal together and a photo session.

About Lecturer
Dr. R. Alpha Amirrachman, M.Phil., Ph.D., is an educator and scholar specializing in education policy and social sciences. With over two decades of expertise in fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments, he has made significant contributions to education reform in Indonesia and beyond. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam (2012), where his dissertation examined peace education in the Moluccas, balancing global models with local interests. He holds an M.Phil. in Education from the University of Sydney (2004), focusing on education decentralization, and pursued post-doctoral fellowships at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore and the Royal Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV) in the Netherlands.
Key career milestones include directing the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Center (SEAMEO SEAMOLEC) from 2019 to 2021, serving as Special Advisor to Indonesia’s Minister of Education and Culture (2016-2018), and contributing to international education dialogues, such as curriculum design for peace and human rights at Utrecht University and research on conflict resolution.
His publications, including “Education Decentralization in Indonesia” (2021), “Sketches of Asia’s Society: People, Culture, Education and Technology” (2021), and the recent “Local Wisdom-Based Multicultural Education” (2025) in Intellectual Discourse, along with articles in journals like South East Asia Research, highlight his influence on decentralized and multicultural education systems.

Muhammad Sufyan As-Tsauri, M.Pd, is a staff member at the Faculty of Education, Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII). Prof. Zuhdi is a Professor of Education, Faculty of Education, State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He was graduated from the Faculty of Tarbiya (Education) of IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Then, he continued his study at the School of Education of the University of New South Wales and receive an M. Ed. degree. He completed his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Education, McGill University, Canada. In addition to teaching at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, he has also served in a number of positions, including the Director of Education and Research of Jalan Sesama (Sesame Street Indonesia) 2006 – 2012; The Editor in Chief of Tarbiya Journal; a Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of “Promoting Intercultural Dialogue and A Culture of Peace in Southeast Asia through Shared Histories” Project in UNESCO Bangkok Office; a Visiting Research Fellow at the Victoria University of Wellington; a Visiting Professor at Agder University, Norway; a Visiting Professor at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang; A Member of the Advisory Team of PKDP Program (Competency Strengthening for New Recruited Lecturers), The Ministry of Religious Affairs.
